Saint Croix is the largest of the US Virgin Islands and has one of the longest reefs of any of the Caribbean islands. So if your vacation plans involve water, St. Croix is the place to come!

St. Croix is a well known scuba diving area. Buck Island with its staghorn coral gardens, shore diving, wreck diving, and the famous "wall" diving at Cane Bay Beach and Salt River Canyon wet the appetites of advanced divers, although there are plenty of dives for beginners as well. Aren't scuba certified yet but want to be? No problem. Many of the dive shops on the island can help you do a lot of the course work before you come, then finish on the island in a couple of days. Maybe by the end of your trip you'll be ready to do one of the popular night dives! Like to spend time at the beach or snorkeling? There are over 20 different beaches on St. Croix to explore. Most have the fine, white sand perfect for walking barefoot. Several are calm and shallow enough for even very young children or non-swimmers to snorkel and see the fish. St. Croix beaches are also popular with the local sea turtles as a nesting site. One of the points of the island is closed except during certain times so the turtles can have some privacy. During nesting and hatching seasons there are turtle watches sponsored by the St. Croix Environmental Association. At the very least, you can explore last years nests on the more remote beaches, and do a little sunbathing yourself. When you're ready for a different view of the ocean, try one of the fishing or sailing charters, go to Buck Island on a full or half day trip, kayak , canoe , windsurf or jet ski instead.
